Mental health is super important. Don’t worry, there are places to go and people to talk to.
Did you know?
- One in six people aged 10-19 are struggling.
- Mental health conditions account for 16% of the global burden of disease and injury in people aged 10-19 years.
- Half of all mental health conditions start by 14 years of age but most cases are undetected and untreated(1).
- Globally, depression is one of the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents.
- Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death in 15-19-year-olds.
- The consequences of not addressing adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults.

I think it is safe to say that most people feel the struggles of mental health creep in from time to time.
It was once described to me that depression & anxiety feels like walking into a lake. At first you step in and the water is shallow, but you are still able to step out and get back to shore with little effort. If you keep going, the water starts to rise and it becomes increasingly harder to get back to shore. If you go to far in, you may feel as though you do not have the strength to get back.
If you get to this point, always remember that you are stronger than you think.
